Campaign Fever: Terry Richardson for Aldo

Anyone who knows me well will know that no-matter what light he is shed in the international fashion press, I am a HUGE fan of Terry Richardson, his enigmatic work and bulging contact list and always will be. So with that in mind I’m very excited to see one of his newest advertising campaigns for high street footwear brand Aldo.
Not a collaboration that immediately springs to mind, Richardson has worked with Aldo previously making him a natural choice to snap their SS11 campaign featuring British supermodel Lily Donaldson and all-American wonder boy Sean O'pry. Rather than taking the obvious route and taking his models to the shoreline, Richardson has instead come up with a clever idea to bring the beach to them, utilising iconic beach equipment and props to highlight the theme of summer. Think surf boards, oversized inflatable beach balls and fake sharks.
Entitled Life’s A Beach, Donaldson and O'pry take centre stage throughout the campaign showcasing the spring summer collections key pieces, including collaboration items from the brands capsule collection with Julian Louie, which debuted at NYFW.
In addition to the boisterous print ads a supporting movie was also produced bring the campaign to life:

Campaign Fever: Wrangler present STUNT

Images throughout couretesy of Surgery PR/ Wrangler
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the private view of the Wrangler exhibition, STUNT, held at the Air Gallery on London’s Dover Street. Encompassing a sneak preview of their SS11 advertising campaign of the same name, American photographer Cass Bird has triumphed co-creating one of the most action-packed, adrenaline-fuelled campaigns I’ve seen for several years.
Comprising part of Wrangler’s We Are Animals series; STUNT features four real life Hollywood stunt professionals performing truly hair-raising feats of ingenuity, captured on the streets of NYC and in the legendary Paramount Studios in Los Angeles – where films such as Indiana Jones and Spiderman were filmed.
With a lesser-known history in the world of cinema, STUNT brings back to life part of the Wrangler heritage, having dressed the first stunt professionals who starred in Western films.
Of her groundbreaking images, project photographer Cass Bird says: “It’s rare that I get commissioned in a commercial vain to have an experience as well as produce work that is equally adventurous and risk-taking. The Wrangler STUNT campaign required a lot of fearlessness and trust - qualities not often found in such projects.”
Keep an eye out for mesmerising images which can be found in numerous style magazines and on European billboards from this month.

Campaign Fever: Stella McCartney keeps it simple

Fresh from modelling Stella McCartney’s SS10 collection, friend and supermodel Natalia Vodianova adds yet another high profile campaign to her CV, returning to embody Stella’s designs for the forthcoming winter season.
Keeping the styling simple and effortlessly chic, Vodianova is captured wearing little more than oversized cardigans and coats, proving that wrapping up for winter can be just as sexy as dressing down for summer.
Photographed by famed duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, colour is injected into the image through the use of cartoon text, playfully adding another element to this iconographic campaign.

Campaign Fever: Love Moschino, we do!

Garance Dore, the wonderfully talented French blogger, illustrator, photographer and - lest we forget - fiancé of the fashion blogosphere’s biggest star Scott Shuman (of The Sartorialist) has shot the Love Moschino Autumn/Winter 2010-11 Advertising Campaign.

Garance met with Moschino’s Creative Director; Rossella Jardini to photograph her in her Milanese flat and posted the shoot to her blog, titled “Rossella”. The post begins with a beautiful portrait of Rossella, followed by detailed photographs of her apartment and her jewellery. Garance commented; “……I immediately liked her refined style and her Italian humour….I loved the mix of elegance and sense of humour that can only be found in Rossella’s universe.”
The collaboration between Rossella Jardini and Garance Dore began with vintage jewellery, design objects, books, pictures, and websites – a mix of traditional research and new media. Through her self titled blog Garance has many times expressed that printed and online media can happily live together side by side, using this concept to create an interesting collaboration which celebrates individuality, the Love Moschino Advertising Campaign was born.
