Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the V+A Friday night talk between journalist and entrepreneur Jo Fairley and British fashion icon Twiggy. The highly anticipated and sold-out evening opened with a slide show looking back at Twiggy’s most iconic portraits. Twiggy aka Lesley Hornby’s career began at the tender age of sixteen when she had a chance meeting with a journalist at a woman’s magazine who planted the seed of modelling. “I was from Neasden and was a working class schoolgirl and had only ever dreamed of modelling. I had Jean Shrimpton all over my wall because she was my idol.”
